The Immune System
Won’t my immune system just destroy the hepatitis B virus?
Most people are lucky enough that their immune system will tackle the hepatitis B virus, providing a natural ‘cure’.
The immune system is what usually keeps you healthy. It detects, attacks and destroys viruses when they invade your body. It even remembers them, so if they ever come back, it can act quickly to overwhelm them.
If you become infected and your immune system destroys the virus, you will be left with hepatitis B antibodies. You would then effectively be immune to hepatitis B and it is highly unlikely that you would become infected again.
It’s important to keep stress levels down so the immune system works to capacity.
